I've been reading a lot of good reviews from this product. It's fairly popular in other asian countries too!

The leaflet and box has awful Engrish, ofcourse, but i'll try to translate it.

Each box contains 2 sachets. each sachet contains 1 blister pack of 10 capsules. you take one capsule thirty minutes before breakfast and dinner, so one box will last 10 days.

the capsule is HUGE, and is color pearly pink and pearl. i wasn't able to take pictures of the inside, but it is filled from top to bottom with white powder with orangeish flecks (probably chitosan, lol. it is extracted from shrimp shells!)

its my first time to take this today and i instantly fell full! i think maybe since the caps are sooo big?? :) hope this works out for me!

yes, i admit i impulsively bought from this site, http://www.lovelyshoes.net, it's a china-based online shop selling shoes, bags, and whatnot . spent a few hundred dollars on some shoes. i got 8 pairs total, and paid for them via paypal, including the shipping fee. a week later my "package"'s status was "shipped" via TNT, an international courier.

copied the tracking code, pasted it into the box, entered, and voila, "not found". that's TNT for you.

weeks later, i was told that my package cannot be shipped out of china since "customs" thought that my stuff were of "great value" and thus we have to pay an unreasonable amount for taxes. Both the owner of lovelyshoes and i disagreed to TNT's decision (since i had been buying shitloads of shit over the net and never had i been charged of any taxes or tariff or what).

the owner offered TNT a document of all the things i bought, had it physically inspected, and probably the "customs" person thought that the shoes might be her size or something, she still declined, unless we paid said unreasonable amount for taxes. note that i had ordered things of greater value the same way and never had customs been suspicious or anything).

so, we had the package recalled, i paid a little more for a better shipping courier, and waited. take note, i had completed my payment July 8th, it is already July 27 as I write this sentence. paypal offers a way to keep shoppers secured by having an appeal for "dispute" which expires after 45 days of payment. I told the owner of lovelyshoes that i will not hesitate to file for a dispute if i still do not receive anything by the 16th of august (i will give myself about a week to have everything processed).

EDIT / aug 14, 2010/

i was told on aug 12 that my package had been sent out, and I will receive it on aug 16. today, however, I was not at home, and when I came back, my mom gave me a receipt from UPS that I was to pay $30 for customs brokerage! this wasn't even in our conversation (between lovelyshoes, UPS, and me). I researched about this customs brokerage thingy and found out that it wasn't even tax! next time, try to explain to your customers if they have to pay anything extra when they receive the package! i've never been charged for customs before, bought shitloads of more expensive things before from abroad, some through UPS as well, but i never had to pay such an amount!

so all in all, each shoe would cost around 1,075 php.

OVERALL: the size is weird. i got em in size 39 (chinese sizing, around 8 in our size), they fit snugly on the toe part but it keeps slipping off from the ankle/sole part. i'd rather have something a size smaller than walk in something half a size bigger!

One of the best pairs in the batch. it's made of some nude faux leather material and black patent leather. The heel is made of synthetic wood, and is separate from the sole. had some dents and wrinkles from the packaging, but i't'll straighten out after wear. really cute IMHO. i can't wear heels though :P
This is probably one of the worst out of the eight. It is made of some sort of gray fake velvety material you aren't supposed to use anywhere but a scrapbook, and they were passing it off as a faux suede material. It's bound to rip apart any time soon, so, meh. comfy though.
Here's another nice one, Teal faux leatherette wedges with a woven heel and ribbon detail. It's comfy and looks really casual.

A really high-heeled gold faux leather strappy wedge sandal with woven detail. The woven bot was off, i know, but it was too cheap not to buy!

Black riveted Peeptoe booties. the rivets were kinda irregular on one shoe though, but this might just be the toughest material out of the bunch, it's made of synthetic leather.

I was really torn between buying a pair of yellow pumps with high heels, kitten heels or wedges, and i ended up buying this pair because it was cheap. :P can do without the ribbon though. patent leather.
Another bad buy, made of the same velvety thingy that you usually see on scrapbooks and cheap necklaces. Those gold brads are rivets, and hey at least they used shoelaces this time!
Skin tone crumply leatherette sandals :) very high and comfy.

so i had a package bound to arrive today, august 16.

i was told that their courier tried to deliver the package on august 14, but i wasn't at home. so i tried calling them (main branch, dispatcher, billing service, customer service, all numbers!) but either A) the phone was just ringing or B) the line was busy. I spent around 2 hours calling all of their numbers until someone picked up. She transferred the call to the dispatching person but it just kept on ringing, so she connected me to the customer service number instead. I gave her my details, the tracking number, and then she told me that my shipment will be delivered the day after since ALL OF THE COURIERS WENT HOME BY 8AM. THE HELL! I asked why, and the customer service person said that, because it is monday, a day after sunday (their rest day) there will be a lot of shipments so the couriers will go home? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

The reason why i chose UPS over the other shipping companies was because I thought shipments were expedited and shipping time was fast, and I needed the package by today (august 16 WAS the guaranteed shipping date, and lo! couriers were gone by 8am? whatwas that??) . A very bad service, in my opinion. Hidden fees, busy lines, no one picking up the phone, etc. I am never going to recommend UPS to my friends and colleagues nor am I to use it ever again. I did not get the service that I paid for.

dropped by @ camerahaus the other day and i can't believe how cheap point and shoot digital cameras are today. when i was about 12, i got my first digicam, it was a 3.2 MP Canon and i got it for around 14,000php. the most expensive digicam around that time was a 5 MP Nikon worth 25k.

they had this wonderful little pink camera on sale, for only 4750 php. me, being me, having used my friend's samsung p&s and being shallowly amused by the beauty shot feature and self-portrait beeping, i bought it. I really hate those newer tinier and slimmer models, since grip is a very important factor for me. I'd rather have a bulky p&s with a good grip than struggle holding it, or worse, dropping it for the lack of grip.

video capabilities are, well, what you paid for (but still awesome for something so cheap), and battery life is good (just as long as you have really good batteries or rechargeable ones, i have 2450, 2500, and 2700 mAh). It comes with a free strap, free samsung camera case, free original transcend SD card, and the essentials: box, usb, installer, manual, samsung warranty.

so yeah, i am a Nikon user and am very very specific when it comes to saturation out of the camera, and I always have this camera on Vivid mode. The LCD is wonderful, it says "intelligent LCD". The pictures were bright and highly saturated on the camera's LCD, but when I moved the pictures to my laptop, the colors seemed to have faded :( other than that, this camera is wonderful, and for the dirt cheap price, a good steal!

EON visa electron card from UnionBank + PayPal

a few days ago, my personal paypal account got limited because i have already sent $500 out, which is, as we know, the limit for unverified accounts. being the student that i am, i cannot link a credit card yet, and so i opted to get an EON card from union bank. it's like a debit/atm card and an online banking visa account to link to paypal in one.

i applied on a tuesday, got the card the next tuesday (but they got my name wrong!!! so i have yet to go back there next tuesday to get the replacement) enrolled online the same day, got activated the next day, withdrew money from paypal and got the money today. so, to cut the long story short, i got the card TUESDAY, and got the money FRIDAY. which is hella fast if you ask me, i know a lot of people who strain and struggle to withdraw from their EON accounts. (it says on paypal's rule book that banking would take around 2-4 days to release and another day to receive, mine took only 1 day to release and 1 day to receive :P)

I had some problems at first though since my paypal display name was two names shorter. (for example my real name is Marie Claire Louise Dansk, as is what is written on all of my bank accounts and IDs, and my paypal name is Marie Dansk.) i had to bug paypal about it to change my name (since we users dont have the power to change our names post-registration). luckily they gave in and changed my name in a day!

anyway, as of now, i'm loving both paypal and my eon account!

this bb cream sold for less than 600php. kinda small, havent tried it yet but tested it once. smells cheap, (a lot like 4u2 bb cream) and kinda pasty if you put it on before your face is completely dry. for the price, meh... wont really recommend it, unless, miraculously, it works fine after a few hours of application. will start using it once i finish my Missha bb cream (which, for some reason, is still alive after 6 months! and still half full! considering that i use it everytime i go out of the house!)
oh m'eye line - really cheap, bought this for 198php. good enough for the price, considering how cute the bottle looks. doesn't smudge, comes off easily using makeup remover, lasts long! the only reason why i got this was because i kinda like misplaced my gel eyeliner on our summer trip to palawan, and because that day i went shopping at Forever 21 and passed by etude house on my way to the boutique. definitely worth the price! although, i might have bought the wrong shade? i thought this was jet black, but then turns out it was a deep dark metallic gray.

got this for free, OK?? lol.

This is a set of pop-up flash diffusers for DSLRs. I see this being sold for as much as 600 pesos everywhere but i got it for only $3 for all three.

and then these are individually bought necklaces from random asian countries, and a really cute flashlight/lighter which i made into a necklace.

this one is worth less than $5, i bought 2 to give one to my *special* friend whose birthday is tomorrow.
and then this one, i bought for $0.99. cheap!!

this is a really cute lighter/flashlight. i didnt remove the protector around the part you press to make it light up as someone might set me on fire while wearing it. bought it for $6.99 i think, but i see some people selling this for 800php.

and for my very small NYX haul! (i ordered only a few things since i cant believe that cherryculture ships to the philippines :)) i'll be ordering another batch soon, i think :) )

A medicine related course teaches you a lot of things you don't want to know, like how to tell if your kid has mental retardation or autism even before they turn 2 years old. We went to our friend's condo unit yesterday, but because of the storm surge early that morning, the electricity went out. After a few minutes, the generator was turned on, but since her condo unit was big (and it ran on like 2 different lines, or fuseboxes, or whatever), only half of her unit was lit. The only stuff that were working were the main lights, the TV, and 2 outlets, but the TV was on static.

One of my friends (friend #1) had to charge her phone, so she asked for an extension cord. She got one, plugged the charger, and plugged the other end on her phone, but sadly, the charger doesn't work. Friend # 1 and the owner of the condo unit then went downstairs (the condo was on top of a mall) to buy our lunch. One of my other friends [friend #2] (who came in late that day) has this really beat up phone that has a battery life that lasts around 2 hours (though she is very rich, mind you), it died in the middle of a phone call, so she went and plugged her charger on the same extension cord. It charged for around 30 minutes, and then the charging bar stopped moving. Friend # 1 and the owner of the condo unit came back after a few minutes with our lunch.

Friend#2: Friend, bakit biglang nag-stop mag charge yung charger mo?
Friend #1: Tinry ko nga yan kanina, hindi gumagana eh.
Owner: san ka nagplug? brownout kasi.
Friend # 2: diyan sa extension cord.
Owner: Pinlug mo ulit?
Friend # 2: di ba nakasaksak?
Owner: ha? eh pano ka nakapag-charge, eh tinanggal ko sa plug yang extension cord bago ako umalis??

We checked and really, it wasn't plugged in! :)) Only the owner knew that it wasn't plugged in. How the hell did friend #2's phone charge for 30mins?? She called a psychic and learned that she had with her 4 ghosts in the unit. She's moving to a new unit next sem. :p

Nails for the Week or should i say two days

this bottle of nailpolish came with the package martha sent me (which i received this morning).
i'm not really a fan of anything darker than regular pink. I'm a nudist! (READ: meaning i like nude colors :P ) and most of the time my nails are of a wedding-day color or a coney island cotton candy pink.i used gold acrylic paint and a striping brush. i'm not ambidextrous so, yeah the gold detail looks, uhm.. shitty! :P

i really really really love receiving packages. whether it's small like the free crocheted butterfly i got when our neighbor was suffering from colon cancer, or the ginormous box our dad sent when we asked him to buy elegant looking shishas (hookah, or whatever the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland was smoking!) from Romania, or the medium sized package of a Tamagotchi i won on an online art contest. In fact, i even keep the envelopes and whatnot they came in! (except for the giant boxes, lol!)

So here! Just some of the stuff sis Ida gave me.

My first Nyx product, Round Lippie in 'Femme'. At first when i looked at the swatches online, i thought that the shade won't suit me, but then when i saw it in person i realized that i am quite mestiza and that almost all colors would look good on me :)) and this one shade does look nice on me. I didn't take a pic of it on my lips though. :p

contrary to what i have read online, nyx lippies don't smell that bad, and glides on smoothly and creamy. I doubt the staying power though. I'd like to try more from this product, namely Circe and Strawberry Milk Round Lippie. :D

Next Up, some mineral makeup samples! I've been always wanting to try some mineral makeup but i really am not fond of buying stuff online. So.. here's a start!

Even magazines based in Australia and the UK had been asking me for permission to use my stuff. Even websites aiming to help cancer victims, publishers of children's books, international logo makers, and everything else. I just don't get why Filipino magazines don't bother asking me for permission before publishing my non-commercial works.

Early this morning, a friend told me that some of my Attribution-Noncommercial-No Derivative works were used on a local magazine sold for around 70 bucks (clue: for young girls). And they didn't even mind asking me if I allowed them to. I haven't seen the thing though. But yes, at least THEY SHOULD HAVE BOTHERED TO ASK ME. :/

it was during Typhoon Pepeng (international: Parma) that I left my makeup kit on the way to a friend's condo unit to doll up for a friend's debut that night.

Luckily, she lives right above Robinson's Place so we just bought some makeup from the department store (we didn't want to spend much money, it might be the end of the world later that night!)

This one shade caught my eye because i was planning on having dramatic eyes and nude lips. This is called Gentle Peach from the Color Mood(s?) collection by Fashion 21.

This is how it looks like on my hand:
i topped it off with a frosted lip gloss from The Body Shop :p

nope it isn't drying and it didn't darken my lips. the packaging looks cheap though.

The Gift and Curse of Driclor

I tried using Driclor because of all the raves i've read about it.
I suffer from hyperhydrosis as one of the side-symptoms of another hormonal disease(ish) that i have. meaning, i get really sweaty easily, even inside air-conditioned rooms. So i gave this product a try.

Driclor is an OTC antiperspirant BTW.
I got it for 862.xx php from mercury drug. I remember this used to sell for only 700 back when i was in highschool.

I used it around four days ago. It was advised that i use it only once a week or twice a month. No itchy feeling, but the next day i looked at my UA area...

and darn! it was a bit discolored and dry. :(( i was always proud of having almost perfect UAs. They used to be so white, smooth, and artistahin. :P

so someone told me to use a whitening bath salt on the discolored area, and because it sold for 10% less the original price, i bought A Bonne spa milk salt.

i'm also using nivea extra whitening (spray type).

i hope it returns back to normal.

Why I Love Nikon's D40 and What I am To Buy Next

Shortly after the Nikon D40's "death" last summer, I bought one, because the D60 was out of stock in Hidalgo that day. I was really lemming for a D40 and was happy that they didn't carry d60 that day or else im gonna have to be stuck with it for 3 years. Reviews and pros say that a D40 would be your best bet for a first DSLR.

Why do i love it? well, it gives less blurry photos than a D60, and more vibrant out-of-the-camera colors than Canons. I went to a friend's debut, and the people there have either D60, canon 1000D or 450D. After the party, pictures were posted up on multiply and I saw that my pics turned out better than them! even better than the ones from the official photogs. :) But then again, it just might be in the technique, and that it's about the "indian" and not the "pana" :)

After I graduate, im planning on buying either a D300, D700, 5D or a 7D.

And I also need a point and shoot. I can't go around carrying this thing always!

i'm eyeing the dead canon e1 (just because it's cute, pic quality is blah), nikon S60, the bulkier nikon p90, and the much bulkier canon S*number* is (s5is, sx1is, etc.)

I'm a fan of ELF, simply because it's cheap, non-comedogenic, and it's everywhere!
Here are some of their products that I've tried:

1) Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 in Goddess and Angel!
--Goddess-- gave that fresh sunkissed from-the-beach look.
--Angel-- was clear with tiny glittery things.
What I liked about the lip shine was that it was just the right kind of sticky! I prefer sticky ones over the runny ones.

2) Candy Shop Lip Gloss in Cherry Bomb and Candy Fix.
--Cherry Bomb-- was a very sheer reddish tint
--Candy Fix-- was a very sheer pinkish tint.
Again, I liked them because they were sticky! stickier than the Body Shop's balms, and they taste and smell so yummm!

3) Brightening Eye Pencil in Black.
Ok. So this time around, ELF FAILED to amuse me. The thing was kinda stiff, not really that smudgy, and i find it hard to get it to stick to my skin. The thing also ran after a few hours.
4) All Over Cover Stick.
I really love the scent of this one! Sugar Orange... yumm! It was just the right kind of creamy, and it blended in well, though a bit on the sheer side.

5) Natural Radiance Blusher in Glow and Innocence
--Glow-- was a radiant peachy shimmery shade
--Innocence-- was a light pink matte shade.
TRUST ME, Glow looks so much better than in this pic! It was my favorite powder blush ever, but I decided to switch to TBS' lip and cheek stain since powders are messy. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GLOW VARIANT! :D

6) Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Luminance
--Luminance-- The lightest shade, more of like a highlighter.
I really like this one coz I was only looking for some sheeny shade and not a shimmering one. BUT... I dropped it once and the powder broke into tiny little pieces, and now it's all just loose powder :( The thing is really powdery, as in realllly. You need to dab with caution.

7) Clarifying Pressed Powder
Again I love the smell, yet I really do not remember using this. I know I threw it away cause I decided to steer away from powders. And I remember it being kinda blah. :(
